Margaret Houy

M.S., J.D, M.B.A.

Marge Houy has had a distinguished career in the health care field. She began her career working at a state agency that regulated health insurers  by helping to initiate innovative programs to control inappropriate health care costs; she practiced health care law for ten years before becoming an administrator at several of the highest rated HMO’s in the country. She concluded her career working with health plans, Medicaid programs and foundations to improve the quality of care provided to disenfranchised people.  She joined the TCFR Board three years ago and has been an active member. 
 
In addition to her work with TCFR, Marge serves on the board of With Women Kisoboka (WWK), a US-based non-profit that partners with a Ugandan NGO to provide no- interest capital and training to empower desperately poor women to be economically independent. Most recently Marge has helped develop a mentorship program that pairs successful WWK participants with new participants to better ensure their financial and personal success. 
 
Marge is a student of Tsoknyi Rinpoche and co-leads a weekly Dzogchen meditation sitting. 
 
Marge received her BA from Pitzer College, Claremont, CA; her JD and Master of Public Policy from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, and her MBA from Simmons College, Boston, MA.
