Tucson Committee on Foreign Relations

Programs

The Committee meets once or twice a month during its season (September through May). Meetings consist of dinner or luncheon presentations by well known international affairs experts. They are recruited from a variety of national and local sources, including academia, media, research institutions, military, and government.

In recent seasons, speakers have included: former ambassadors to Israel, Mexico, Korea, and Afghanistan; a former CIA director; noted authors on the Middle East, Cuba, and international opinion research; senior military officers; and many distinguished academics.

Each spring TCFR members participate in a ballot to select six topics of high membership interest that will be addressed in the forthcoming season. The remaining meeting topics are selected by the Board of Directors, based on current events and the availability of outstanding speakers. Our speakers are regularly invited for interviews on various KUAT-TV news programs.

On occasion, TCFR joins with other local organizations to sponsor joint forums that are open to the public and feature a number of speakers on a variety of interesting subjects.
