History of the Organization
The TCFR was established in 1965 under the aegis of the Council on Foreign Relations. Beginning with less than two dozen members, it has now grown to about 150 individuals and families.
In 1995 the Council decided to end its relationship with the various Committees, and TCFR and the other groups became independent entities. TCFR remained independent until 1999 when it joined with a number of other former Council Committees in a new group known as American Committees on Foreign Relations (ACFR).
As a result of steadily escalating ACFR affiliation dues, TCFR in 2007 opted to withdraw, once again becoming an independent organization.
